Nearpod

I discovered Nearpod at a technology conference last year and it may be one of the neatest apps for instruction that I have stumbled upon in quite a while.

Install the app on your iPad or you may install the app into your Google Chrome web browser from the Chrome Store. Create a Teacher Account. Have students/others install the app on their smart phone.

Go to nearpod's store and purchase or download free presentations. Once you open the presentation your are assigned a pin #. Distribute that pin to the class and have them enter it after opening their nearpod app. Be prepared for the excited response of having students, as they follow along with the lesson and engage in live feedback. What a great new way to present!

PDF Candy is both a great online and/or downloadable program that allows multiple options for editing PDF documents. Users may also choose to convert existing PDFs to several other formats (i.e. PDF to Word, etc.).

Flashcard Factory by Pear Deck

Change the way your students learn vocabulary with Flashcard Factory by Pear Deck. Students compete and work together in their respective groups in order to create sentences and illustrations. Students make arguments for their cards and the teacher accepts or rejects the arguments for approval. Once the cards are approved, they may be uploaded to Quizlet as part of their database of flashcards. The best thing about it is that a greater understanding of each of the vocabulary words is gained by adding the illustrations and sentences to each of the cards created. Try it out!
